Captain Keith Burnet currently
holds a USCG 100 ton Master License and has fished the local waters off New Jersey's coast since1974. We enjoy sharing
our experience with new and seasoned anglers. The season typically starts fishing the many wrecks off Barnegat for blackfish
and sea bass--the Spring action is unbelievable! You can catch your limit in a few hours when the bite is on.STRIPERS
have made a huge comeback starting in 2007 our spring and fall fishing has been spectacular trolling, jigging and bait fishing
we have seen many in the 40 lb range! As we get into the season, we focus on larger species of fish in
the area. You can find us along the 20 and 30 fathom lines drifting for sharks , always keeping an eye on the water
for a Bluefin Tuna crashing the surface. There is no fish in the ocean that gets me more excited than a TUNA. I confess I am addicted to fishing for them!
In 1994, we started traveling to Ocean City, Maryland to fish the southern waters early
in the season for tuna and marlin. This gives us an opportunity to fish from the Washington Canyon up to
the Hudson Canyon and all canyons in between, meeting many accomplished anglers and learning new techniques along the way.
When we are in Maryland, we fish out of the White Marlin Marina which is minutes to the inlet. We have
met some of the area's finest captains and have received excellent advice and information helping to make each year there
an exceptional experience. After fishing out of Maryland's Ocean City Inlet, we move back to Waretown, New Jersey where we fish out of Holiday
Harbor Marina and begin our Tuna Season. We pursue our OBSESSION for these fish as long as the weather
and action permit. It's not uncommon to make a canyon run in November. As the season
gets underway, the fishing can be phenomenal and the quality of fish remarkable! We will also fill in the
late season with wreck fishing trips which break up the long canyon runs.Back in 2005 I was introduced to commercial fishing for Giant Bluefins.
That season gets going December 1st and has run through the month of January typically closing on the 31st.I went
back each year until 2011, running a boat for the entire season.
..I am one of the lucky ones.
My wife Diann "gets it." She enjoys fishing and the boat as much as I do.
She travels with me, spending weeks on the boat during the season and will never say no to an overnight trip to the
canyon when the weather is right.
Join
us aboard the "OBSESSION."
We will do everything possible to make your trip with
us a memorable experience.
